The HIV Counseling and Testing (HCT) Training Course was developed under the project entitled “Institutionalization of HCT Training Course as an Element of the Post-Graduate Medical  Training Curricula” implemented by the All-Ukrainian Charitable Organization «Chas Zhyttya Plus» with the support from the USAID RESPOND Project.

This course is unique given the compressed nature of the program: It is a five-day course versus ten-day courses offered by post-graduate medical institutions.  In developing the course, the Ukrainian experience around HCT was utilized along with best international practices, particularly the “Trainer’s Guide on HIV Counseling in Asia and Pacific” (WHO, UNICEF, and FHI 360).

The course targets the development of counseling skills for different conditions: pre-test and post-test counseling, provider-initiated counseling and testing, counseling on treatment issues, counseling for specific client groups, counseling of suicidal clients, etc.
